This particular recording was taken a bit further back from the fountains to try and achieve a more ambient sound, capturing bird song, light winds, distant traffic and park keeper activity.

Pre-dawn recording of the city of warren, mi (detroit's largest suburb) waking up on palm sunday. Recording is from 5:20am to 7:20am. Sunrise was at 7:13am. It was a cold crisp clear sky morning, 29f / -2c, barely any breeze. Pretty much a quiet track of early springtime birds, robins, mourning doves etc. , city hum & distant traffic building up as the city awakes on this beautiful palm sunday 2023. Recorded on a zoom h1n. Had to upload it as a flac, cause it was just over a gig as a wav. File.

A recording made around noon on the edge of a woods located right in the middle of a major midwestern university. Throughout this entire recording, you'll hear the everpresent hum of heating and air conditioner units running. You will also hear faint conversations and laughter of students as they walk to class, faint sounds from a nearby construction site, distant rumble of traffic, the distant droning of an airplane lazily floating through the april sky. From time to time you will also hear the well known "beep. . . Beep. . . . . Beep. . . . " of a piece of heavy equipment backing up. However, despite all of the dominating background of man and his machines, nature comes through. Sincei was sitting on the edge of a fairly large woods which sits in the center of all of the concrete and glass and steel, the sweet singing of birds lasts throughout much of this recording. This ambience was recorded on zoom h6 with msh-6 mid-side stereo mic capsule. Recording was edited and decoded. Mic was positioned right in a frame of an open window so that it won't get flood from a heavy rain and pick up much room reflections. My flat where i recorded from was on 4th floor. There was a busy street 50m far from the apartment building itself, a bit further there was a park. Rain at that night was heavy. Also you can hear several heavy thunder hits of various distance throughout the whole recording. Hope this recording will help to enhance the sound of your next project. Look out for a few small ambient noises like splashes or traffic. A perfect audio bed under your sound design of a rainy scene. Or layer it to create a storm.

Having escaped a zoo exhibit many years ago, they've been eking out a living, adapting to the tempered climate and found themselves a new home. This was recorded from my windowsill facing onto a tarmac driveway in august 2012. There is the occasional tinkling sound of raindrops hitting a metal gate, some traffic noise, the occasional bit of thunder, and some shouts of people getting wet. At the end, raindrops start falling onto the recorder. This is fairly heavy rain by oxford standards; we probably get something like this only a couple of times a year. This fall turned into hail a bit later. Recorded with a marantz pmd661.

This is a recording i got sat outside a retro clothes shop on portobello road in london. Distant music combined with the market and people walking past creates a busy scene with the busy road that runs over the top of the market giving a nice base to fill out the recording. The sound of the boom gates going down at a level crossing. A train arrives, stops at the other station, and departs with a blast from the horn. An announcement goes off in the distance. Then the boom gates go back down and a train, this time on the recorder's platform, arrives. The doors open and the train is boarded. This was recorded in australia.

This is a recording of me, walking on the sidewalk of a road during heavy rain and wind. The cars passing me is driving through the water. I am using a røde blimp with deadcat in my hand, containing a sennheiser mkh 416 and a ambient ate 308 emesser in a ms-stereo setup. The recorder that i use is a zoom f6, but the ms-stereo decoding is done in pro tools in post. 32bit float 48khz.

Audio from the artist paintpots in yellowstone. The hiss in the background is the constant float of steam from the ground along with the regular release of pockets of air from these odd little spitting mud holes. Pretty cool to see and producing a very unique sound. Not sure if it'll be useful for anything, but it was too cool to pass up. I just love this deep rich harmonic sound with some phase modulation! i've tried to capture it the last month and half and finally managed it. There's quite a lot of air traffic (planes and helicopters) here in prague - písnice, but most of the helicopters have poor sound. It is bell 407 helicopter ok-alb in black/beige color operated by blue sky service (http://www. Ok-alb. Com/). Flight mode-s code a37a9ea. First it approaches with the deep harmonic sound, then it flies by overhead with a more noisy mid-spectrum sound. Recorded on zoom h4nsp, this time with 4gb sd card which has far lower startup time than 32 gb one (like 12 secs compared to more than a minute). Besides the helicopter itself there are some birds singing, insects buzzing and some rumble from the wind (i didn't manage attach the deadcat windshield so quickly). Basic frequency: ~ 33. 87 hz. This is a sound of a mercedes benz 709d mini bus driving on a really hard icy road. It was a rattly old bus, everything squeaked and rumbled on it. This sound was made by me, i tied down my canon powershot a460 digital camera inside the engine bay of my 1993 rover 620si, and it's got a petrol honda engine, no turbo on this version. I had my video recording on my camera in the engine bay while i was driving. I started the engine up and took it for a drive. I simply took the sound off the video. A second attempt at recording the deep mud i keep finding myself walking through each morning on walthamstow marshes. This recording was made using a sound devices mixpre6ii and a stereo pair of fel em172 mics (connected to a bent wire clothes hanger and positioned about 30cm above my feet). Processing: normalize -1. 0db, low cut filter 100hz, minor noise reduction to reduce background traffic/train noise. I do not require any credit or attribution.
